It was startling and heartbreaking for his family to find he had cancer because he was a young, healthy child who had never even had a small ear infection. Nash was given the prognosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of two. His parents started looking into the top pediatric cancer hospitals right away and were relieved to see that they were in the top 10. Soon after, Nash started receiving intense chemotherapy at the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center. He recently turned three years old. He had a great smile on his face despite spending his special day in the hospital; he was surrounded by balloons and the affection of his family and carers.
Even though the month-long awareness campaign for childhood cancer and sickle cell disease is drawing to an end, the battle will continue.
